Science Centre Singapore’s largest dinosaur exhibition starting October 2025

Get ready for a monumental adventure because the Science Centre Singapore is about to host its LARGEST EVER dinosaur exhibition! You absolutely cannot miss this.

Mark your calendars! This prehistoric extravaganza, first announced at the NUS Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum’s (LKCNHM) 10th anniversary event on May 6, officially opens on October 11. Get ready to journey through 400 million years of Earth’s history spread across an incredible 3,000 sq m of exhibition space.

This isn’t just any dinosaur show; it’s a dual showcase featuring two major sections: Dinosaurs of Patagonia and Six Extinctions. It’s a joint effort by the Science Centre and LKCNHM, held at the Science Centre’s annexe halls.

Here’s what makes this exhibition an absolute must-see:

  • Massive Scale: Expect to see an astounding 33 fossils and 60 full-scale models across three interactive zones.
  • Dinosaurs of Patagonia: Step into ancient Patagonia, known as one of Earth’s most fertile fossil grounds today.
    • Centrepiece Alert: You’ll be awestruck by a 40m life-size cast of the Patagotitan mayorum. These titanosaurs weighed 70 tonnes each and were among the largest land animals to ever roam Earth! This section is curated by Argentina’s Museo Paleontologico Egidio Feruglio.
  • Six Extinctions: Delve into the planet’s major extinction events. This showcase, curated by Australia-based Gondwana Studios, features over 30 fossils.
    • Meet Scotty: Get up close with Scotty, the largest Tyrannosaurus rex ever found!
    • The Sixth Extinction: The exhibition brilliantly brings the story right up to the present day, prompting guests to reflect on humanity’s impact on biodiversity.
    • Singapore’s Biodiversity: The LKCNHM has even drawn from its own collection to highlight Singapore’s own biodiversity challenges, showcasing species like the extinct rufous-collared kingfisher (Actenoides concretus) and cream-coloured giant squirrel (Ratufa affinis affinis).
    • Future Insights: Learn about the scientific methods and analytical tools used to study extinction records, which might help prevent future species loss.

This exhibition sheds light on the rise and fall of prehistoric life and the five major extinction events in Earth’s history. It’s a truly educational and eye-opening experience for all ages!
